Dear Parents/Guardians,

STUDENT ATTENDANCE AT OUR SCHOOL COUNTS EVERYDAY!
Did you know that student attendance is one of the over thirty factors that the New Mexico Public Education Department looks at in deciding if R.V.T. is proficient? We MUST have 92% attendance through the entire school year to meet AYP. Last year our average attendance was 93.2%! Thank you for your diligence in sending your children to school! Please continue to help us by sending your child to school every day!
The attendance rate by grade level from August 11 to April 30 is as follows:
Kinder 91.44%
First grade 93.84%
Second grade 93.74%
Pre-School 89.92%

We are in School Improvement I. We need to continue to keep our attendance high so we can get totally out of School Improvement I! Letters will be going out about the attendance policy.

Family Liaison Ready to Help You!
We welcome Alice Webb as the district’s family resource liaison. If you need help getting government or private assistance, Alice can help. She can also help with medical resources and with housing problems. She is located at Southside School and her phone # 542-5746.
This is to inform you that in an effort to increase our presence in Hidalgo County the Children, Youth & Families Department, Child Protective Services (CPS), has established a specific day and time we will be in Lordsburg. Effective April 30th, a member from our staff will be in Lordsburg on Thursdays from 9 am to 4 pm at the old HMS building, 524 De Moss Street, Suite 2.

The window is open for requesting a teacher from May 8-15. Remember, just because you request doesn’t automatically mean your request will be granted. There are many extenuating circumstances to be considered when filling rosters. You need to place in writing which teacher you are requesting, date it, and give it to Mrs. Gonzalez in the front office.
Remember the greatest gift you can give your child is to read to them or with them!

I am delighted to be a member of the Lordsburg Municipal Schools. I am a native New Mexican. I was born and raised in Deming, New Mexico. I have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I have 9 years of experience as a teacher in public education in Deming, New Mexico, 6 years as an administrator in the state of New Mexico, and 7 years as an administrator in the state of Colorado. I hold a B. A. in elementary education; an M.A.T. in elementary education and an M.A. in school administration. All from Western New Mexico University.
I have worked with many different civic organizations within communities in gaining support for education. I have served on many and various boards such as School to Work, Chamber of Commerce and one for children at risk. Students are my business. I firmly believe that students can learn if the environment is designed to be conducive to learning. This includes such things as improving instructional materials, professional development, and having specialized resources for students that address their exceptionalities. Please come and volunteer at RVT,
parent involvement is essential for everyone’s learning.
